The Bishop Gorman Crusaders are one win away from a state tournament berth.
The Crusaders (29-4) will tangle with Lucas Christian Academy (17-11) in a regional final at noon Saturday at Kaufman High School.
It will be the third meeting between Gorman and the Warriors this season. Both squads are in TAPPS 3A District 2. The Cru won 51-30 on Jan. 30 in Lucas and 64-31 on Feb. 6 in Tyler.
The 3A state tournament is scheduled for Feb. 28-29 in the Waco area. The semifinals are scheduled for 2 and 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at Waco University High School. The championship game is slated for 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 29 at Robinson High School.
Gorman reached the regional final with a 56-48 win over Fort Worth Covenant Classical on Tuesday at Haddad Gymnasium.
Joseph Richbourg led the Cru with 14 points, followed by Ryan Richbourg (11), EJ Coppock (7), Beau Bender (7), Evan Thibodeaux (6), Anthony Todd (6) and Trey Newsome (5).
Thibodeaux hit two 3-pointers with Newsome, Ryan Richbourg and Coppock hitting one apiece.
TKG was 10 of 18 from the free throw line.
The Crusaders have won 12 straight games and are unbeaten in 2024. Their last loss was to Grace Community on Dec. 29 at the Floyd Wagstaff Holiday Classic.
Lucas Christian advanced to regionals with a 60-58 win over Weatherford Christian.
The winner of the BG-LC game will face the winner of Lubbock Christian School and Dallas Akiba Yavneh in the state semifinals.
The other semifinals have Houston Westbury Christian vs. New Braunfels Christian and Waco Live Oak Classical vs. Houston St. Francis Episcopal.
Bishop Gorman, Lucas Christian and Akiba Yavneh all are from District 2. The Crusaders were district champions, followed by Vkiba Yavneh and Lucas Christian.
Other members of the Gorman team are David Phillips, Jack Coan, Nate Glosson, Carlin Ifeadi, James Trempert, Brooks Frans and Leo Wiebe.
