Bishop Thomas K. Gorman Catholic School in Tyler will induct nine former Crusaders (and one team) into their inaugural "Hall of Fame Class on Friday, October 2.
Bishop Gorman is proud to announce Coach Henry Carl "Bo" Wilson will be one of the members of the inaugural class. Coach Wilson enjoyed tremendous success throughout his career. He guided the Crusaders to the 1995 TAPPS State Championship. Coach Wilson will be inducted posthumously, having passed away in 2017.
Coach Wilson started his coaching career in Livingston and then continued at Mt. Carmel Catholic High School, followed by Fonville, Jeff Davis, and Bellaire, all in the Houston ISD. He continued his head coaching and Athletic Director role with stops at Baird, Granbury, Stamford, Sweeny, Pairs, Troup, Bullard, Arp, and finishing at
Bishop Gorman. Coach Wilson also served as a scout for the Pittsburgh Steelers and an assistant coach for the Dallas Texas Arena Football Team.
The '95 team finished the year with a record of 12-1, winning the state title. The 12 wins remains the school record for Gorman. The '95 team is also the last team to win a district title on the football field for Bishop Gorman.
Coach Wilson also served his country in the Marine Reserves. Coach Wilson was married for 50 years to his wife, Penny.

Activities will include the Hall of Fame Luncheon to be held at 11:30 a.m. at Rick's on the Square. Tickets will go on sale this week for the luncheon. A ceremony will also take place at the Homecoming football game that evening. The Hall of Fame plaques will be on display in the Brodnax Crusader Family Center.

Bishop Gorman is proud to announce the 1984 State Championship Football Team is being honored and inducted into the Crusader Hall of Fame.
This was the first state title won by Bishop Gorman, with Coach Eric Pottkotter leading the team to a 10-2 record and the title. The Crusaders were a strong offensive squad, scoring 34 points or more in six of their 12 games during the 1984 season.
The 1984 season was the third for Coach Pottkotter at Gorman, and he was named East Texas Coach of the Year, while also earning state Coach of the Year honors.
To win the state title, the Crusaders would eliminate Lutheran North (60-7) in the semi-final game, before shutting out Sacred Heart-Halletsville (22-0) in the championship contest. Heath Webb, Ricky Gastillo, David Owston, Brad Vinson, George Tures and Damon Carney all were named to the All-State Team. Webb, Tures and Vinson were All-East Texas selections. Richard Tyer, Jason Jonas, Alex Claybon, Peter Chaump, Chuck Rogers, Collin Maloney were All-District players, as were Owston, Gastillo, Carney, Tures, Webb and Vinson.

Bishop Gorman is proud and honored to announce Josiah Mooney will be one of the members of the inaugural class. Mooney was a three-sport letter winner during his brilliant career at Bishop Gorman. He would graduate in 1997, and would earn multiple honors while playing football, basketball and track.
Mooney was All-District, All-East Texas and All-State on the gridiron, as a quarterback and a linebacker. He was the QB and leading tackler on the 1995 TAPPS State Championship team. Josiah was a two-time All-District selection on the basketball court and was a state qualifier in track (twice).
Following his graduation from Bishop Gorman, Mooney would play college football for the Red Storm at St. John's University in New York. He was the team MVP in 2000, and was a Div. 1-AA All-American in 2000. He was honored for his work as a student, being named to the Athletic Directors Academic All-Star Team for Div. 1-AA. He finished with 167 tackles, nine sacks and seven interceptions.
Mooney completed his undergraduate work at St. John's University and obtained his Master's Degree from Trinity University. His education has continued with the Harvard Business Analytics Program (Harvard Business School, 2020). From 2005-2009 Mooney and his wife (former Gorman alum Katherine Scirto) worked with Catholic Relief Services Mission in San Lucas, Guatemala. In 2011, St. John's University awarded Mooney with the St. Vincent DePaul Medal.
He is now the Chief Operating Officer for Senior Whole Health (Massachusetts).

Bishop Gorman is proud and honored to announce Billy Paul Chrietzberg will be one of the members of the inaugural class. Chrietzberg is the first individual to be honored as a special contributor in the Hall of Fame.
Billy Paul Chrietzberg was very involved with St. Gregory and Bishop Thomas K. Gorman Catholic from 1961 through 1983. We lost a great man when he passed away in 1983 from a heart attack at the age of 53.
In his 20 plus years of service he held multiple positions with the Booster Club, including President. He was very instrumental in many projects during the early stages of the high school, helping to build the track and baseball diamond. He was instrumental in fundraising and the building of these facilities.
He was a team player, who motivated other parents and families to give of their time and energy to support the Tyler Catholic Schools. A true example of a Servants Heart, his proudest moments were watching students excelling in their respective school activities.
Billy Paul Chrietzberg had three children graduate from Gorman. Michael (1972), Judith (1973), and David (1977).

Bishop Gorman is proud to announce Coach John Carney will be one of the members of the inaugural class. Carney will be inducted posthumously, following his passing in 2016.
Coach Carney spent the majority of his life coaching at Bishop Gorman. Over the course of over 50 years he coached multiple sports for the Crusaders. He started as the middle school boys basketball coach in 1968, and would also coach the varsity boys and girls basketball teams, in addition to the varsity softball program. He was the softball coach from 1992-2009.
His highest finish was third place in state with varsity boys basketball.
The softball field at Gorman and the gymnasium at St. Gregory are both named for this devoted Crusader.
Coach Carney was married to his wife Barbara for almost 65 years. His legacy at Bishop Gorman goes beyond the programs he started, built and coached, as all 11 of his children graduated from BG. In addition, 26 grandchildren have also graduated with seven grandchildren and great-grandchildren currently attending.

Bishop Gorman is proud to announce Andre Cummings will be one of the members of the inaugural class. Cummings was a three-sport letter-winner during his career at Bishop Gorman. He would graduate in 1996, and he remains one of the top athletes to ever wear a Crusader uniform. The 6'5 Cummings earned All-District, All-East Texas and All-State honors on the football field. A big-time receiver, he was a key member of the State Championship squad in 1995. He averaged over 20 points a game on the basketball court, starting as sophomore and continuing throughout his career. He played in the state playoffs and was a 1,000 point scorer for the Crusaders. Cummings was also a State Champion as an individual and as a team in track and field. He captured the state long jump and high jump championship, earning valuable points for Bishop Gorman. He set a school record in both jumping events. He is also a member of the 4 x 200 meter relay that continues to hold the school record. Following his career as a Crusader, Cummings signed and played football with Tyler Junior College. Join us on October 2 to recognize Andre Cummings and all members of the Bishop Gorman Hall of Fame Class. Activities will include the Hall of Fame Luncheon (to be held at Rick's on the Square, and a ceremony at the Homecoming football game that evening. Bishop Gorman is honored to announce Mia Behm will be one of the members of the inaugural class. Behm is one of the top distance runners in the history of East Texas high school runners, and is now an elite marathon runner in the United States.
As a student at Bishop Gorman, Behm would serve as the captain of the track team her junior and senior seasons. She captured the District, Regional and State Championship in the 1600m and 3200m run in 2007 and 2008. She was also the District and State Champion in the 1600m and State Champion in the 800m in 2006. She was also the State Champion in cross country in 2006 and 2007.
She is still the state record holder in the 3200m with a time of 10:54.90. She holds the Gorman scorer records in the 800, 1600 and 3200.
Running for the University of Texas, Behm would earn All-American honors for the Longhorns. Behm now lives in Brooklyn, New York. She was the 12th American female in the 2019 running of the 123rd Boston Marathon. She qualified and ran in the 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials.
